The attached plan desdfibes the proposed water and on-site septic system that we are se&klng apprm~. Included on the plans are the location of the well on the lot, test hole locations, percolation test result's~ and locations of existing 4,4fils and septic systems in ~he area~ Existing topography is also shown on the dra~"mg. Findings during our literature Search of Previous systems in the arei and on-site im-estigation are summa~ed as follows: 1.. SOILS: Attached is on-sire &nd adjacent property logs which show soil dassificationg groondwater monitodn~ and the percolation.test tesult~ The test holes placed near the proposed absorption trench and alternati absorption trench location re~,'ealed light brbwti silty sand soil types at depths between the ' surface and approximatdy four feet and sandy silt with some day and cobbles to depths of approximately. sixteen feet below grade. Soils im'estigation in the area of the proposed absorption field revealed no ground water to a depth 6f approximately seventeen feet belo~ grade. Minimum Length: 62.5 feet long - 2 - July 2, 2002 SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters located on the site or adjacent properties within a 100 feet of the proposed septic systernx TOPOGRAPHY: The site slopes very slightly downhill from the east to the west as shown on the attached drawing. The proposed septic tank will be placed down gradient from the house and the new absorption trench ~4ll be a deep trench type constructed in conformance with Municipal requirements and parallel to contours and down-gradient from the septic tank. All componems of the septic system will be constructed a minimum of 100 feet from any well and a minimum of 10 feet from the water service line to the house. Groundwater was not found during our im'estigafion but natural subsurface flows within the hillside area generally flows from east to west within the Anchorage bowl drainage basin. The on-site ~ell will be placed in excess of 100 feet from the septic system. This installation is not anticipated to have any adverse impacts on adjacent wells and/or septic systems and I recommend approval of the system as proposed. DATE: ON-SITE WASTEWATER DISPOSAL SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS LOT 9A, CROSBY SUBDIVISION GENERAL: The scope of this project includes the procurement and placement of a new 1,250 gallon septic tank at the location shown on the Site Plan (attached). The new septic system also includes the construction of a new 65 feet long x 1-3 feet wide x 6 foot effective depth absorption trench at the location also shown on the site plan. The distribution line in the trench will be placed at four feet below the existing ground surface. Total depth ofthe trench will be a minimum of 10 feet below the existing ground surface. The new absorption trench and septic tank must be placed a minimum of 100 feet from the well on the lot and wells on adjacent lots. The location of the septic tank shall be a minimum of 10 feet from the proposed house location. The final location does not have to be as shown on the plans should the owner desire to located the tank in another location acceptable to the engineer. The water service line from the well must be placed a minimum often feet from any part of the septic system or sewer line. Construction shall be in accordance with the approved site plan, design drawings, Municipal permit and all applicable State and Municipal ofAnchorage Wastewater Disposal and Water Well Regulations. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all underground utility locates, verification of all lot lines, seperation distances between proposed septic system components, water lines, wells and proposed building foundation locations. Additionally, the contractor shall be responsible for verification of vertical elevations between sewer line inverts from the proposed house, septic tank and drainfield distribution piping inverts. Additionally, the contractor shall be responsible for verification prior to construction of the distribution piping and the base of the absorption field. 4. The contractor shall be responsible for final grading of areas disturbed during construction and grading of those areas specifically identified on the plans. Contractors installing wastewater disposal systems must be certified by the Municipal Department of IIcalth and I Iuman Services for system installations. Owners installing their own systems must receive prior approval from D.ILII.S. before beginning system installation. SEPTIC TANK INSTALLATION 1. A new 1,250 gallon septic tank must be procured from an approved source and installed at a location as shown or approved by the engineer. 2. A septic tank is to be constructed by a certified septic tank manufacturer. Construction shall include two 4" cleanouts for pumping access. 3. Soils supporting the septic tank shall be sufficiently compacted to prevent settling or shifting of the tank. 4. AIl standpipos on the septic tank shall extend a minimum of 12 inches above final grade. $. Tanks installed without four (4) feet ofcover shall have a minimum ofT' of direct burial insulation meeting the requirements of Municipality of Anchorage Standard Specifications (MA.S.S.). 6. A footing cleanout shall be installed lwo feet from the building foundation. Two cleanouts are required between the tank and the drainfield. 7o Final grading over all components ofthe septic system, including the tank shall be done to assure surface water drains away from the component. Final surfaces shall slope away from the tank and other system components as much as practical to assure surface waters do not contribute to the volume ofsewage that is being treated. DRAINFIELD CONSTRUCTION: 1. The drainfield shall be constructed to the dimensions shown on the design. The bottom ofthe trench shall be within 2" of level. 2. Distribution piping must be placed level with perforations down atop a level bed ofdrainfield rock. 3. A silt barrier or geotextile fabric must be placed between the drainfiled rock and the natural soil backfill. 4. Monitor tubes must be 4" diameter and installed at the locations shown on the design. The portion below ground must be perforated.
