They are perforated around cfc the foundation as required and solid from the foundation across the drainfield where they daylight away from the drainfield. The owner, is currently having a 5 bedroom home constructed. We are proposing to install a new 1500 gallon steel septic tank and dual 5 - wide trench type drainfields. Two testholes were excavated on the property. The primary drainfields are designed around the 30 foot radius of testhole #2. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached 2007 log which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results for testhole #555. On 9/5/2017 an additional testhole was excavated (T.H.#2). Attached is the soil log with groundwater monitoring, and percolation test results. At a depth of approximately 12 feet (in T.H. #2), the digging became significantly "harder" and the excavation of the testhole was discontinued. We are proposing to limit the depth of the new (primary) drainfield to a depth of 6 feet so as to create separation to the "denser' soils encountered at 12 feet. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: As can be seen on drawing 1 of 3 there are surface waters on the lot and we are requesting a waiver. See waiver request below. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached drawing 2 of 3, the average topography around the proposed (primary) drainfields is 10-15%. However, approximately 50 feet south-west of T. H. #2 (10 feet from the proposed drainfield), there are slopes greater than 25%. We are requesting that your department issue a variance from the required separation distance of 50 feet from drainfield to slopes greater than 25% down to 10 feet. See attached slope profile drawing and waiver request for details. 5. WAIVERS: The waivers for the new proposed reserve site were previously granted during the initial submittal and permit issuance. We are also requesting the issuance of a waiver to allow for the proposed primary drainfield to be only 65 feet from surface water. Justifications for granting these waivers are as follows: • The area between the proposed drainfield and surface water is highly vegetated • The topography is such that if effluent were to overflow, it would not travel directly towards the surface water (see attached Lidar topography). • We are proposing a berm that would ensure diversion of overflowing effluent from migrating directly towards the surface water. • We are proposing the addition of fill material to extend the slopes <25% out an additional 20 feet (30 feet total from the proposed drainfield). • As can be seen on the attached profile drawing, a line drawn 2 feet above the top of rock at 25% does not intersect until 30+ feet down -gradient from the proposed fill. It is the fastest and most economical means in most cases. Air is injected in one to three places in the vacuum line, in conjunction with the pump which creating 22-27 inches of vacuum. Where that method is ineffective, a trash pump is placed inline between the septic tank and the vacuum tank. In almost all cases the pump is used in unison with the vacuum pump. It is my understanding that you have used this successfully to lift septage as much as 70+ vertical feet up to the pump truck. Please confirm this so I can notify the MOA onsite department as to how you deal with pumping septic tanks when the vertical lift is greater than 30 feet.
