Pannone, Principal Registered Professional Engineer E-mail: steve(a)panengak.com 24 April 2019 Subject: SULLIVAN ACRES L3 Initial Septic System and Well Permit Request Design Narrative This is a design narrative to issue a permit to install an initial septic system and well for this property. The system will serve a proposed four (4) bedroom house (owner desires to have a five (5) bedroom system). The system will utilize a new 1500g septic tank and absorption field. This lot and the surrounding lots will be served by private wells. There are no wells within 100' of the proposed septic system. Soils. PES performed test holes on the lot in January 2018 and conducted water monitoring in both January and October of 2018. Ground water was not observed to a depth of 5.5' below the surface after water monitoring in October 2018. An additional test hole was performed by PES in April of 2019. Ground water was monitored at 11.5' after the 7 day monitoring period. Bedrock was not encountered in the test hole to 12.5. Based on the results of the percolation test, overall soils appearance, an application rate of 0.8 GPD/SF was used for a conventional wastewater system in the area of the test hole. 2. Soil Absorption System Design. a. See Sheet 1 of the design package. 3. Surface Water: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed septic tank and drain field. 4. Topography: The existing topography on the lot generally slopes from northeast to the southwest. The proposed field is to be installed in a slope of approximately 33%, with a steeper cut slope approximately 40' downhill of the proposed field. See waiver request. S. Drawing Markings: The Drawings are marked "For MoA Review Only". When written notification that the review is complete and that there are no further comments is received from MoA On -Site Department, the note will be removed and "Issued for Construction" drawings will be issued. The soils in this area are typically Hydrologic Soils Group A which contains organics underlain by sand and gravel (gm/sm), as shown on the soils log. Due to the nature of and drainage capacity of the soils found in the area (HSG A) the designed infiltration line of 45% for septic system installation on steep slopes should be used instead of the assumed/worst case soil classification infiltration line of 25%. The slopes and soil types enable installation of any conventional system without the system effluent "daylighting" at any distance of concern.
